Pat Skenridge

Pat’s experimentation with many different mediums, styles and techniques allows her artwork to continually evolve. Her work is accurately described as eclectic but her most significant work is that of an energetic, semi-abstract colourist and there is no subject which she will not attempt – with varying degrees of success!

She enjoys the forgiveness of acrylic when playing with new forms of expression and testing ideas, particularly on large canvasses. She has discovered the joys – and diffculties – of gouach and ink and, in a new direction for her, smaller works on paper. But her favourite medium is oil which enables her to readily capture the hot whites and dazzling reds of the Australian interior which continues to inspire her. She regards experimentation and ‘playing’ with paint as essential to her ongoing love of painting and relishes working with other artists. She finds critical feedback essential to the never-ending learning process.

Pat is a life member of the Blackheath Art Society where she was variously a committee member, treasurer and president between 1996 – 2013. She is also a founding partner of the artists’ collective established in December 2001 which owns and manages Gallery Blackheath. Pat has been awarded a significant number of prizes since she began painting (like many others, she followed a different career path earlier in life) and has works in collections in the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Canada, Singapore and throughout Australia.
